The shrine is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane who is known as the God of literature or calligraphy. About 600 plum trees are planted on the site, and they start to decorate the shrine beautifully around early February to mid March.

While the Main Shrine shown on the left has been under renovation since 2023, a green Temporary Shrine has been set up for the time being.
